Burger Patties

Burger Assembly

Method

Preparing the Patties

  1. 1

    Mix the Ingredients

In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, and black pepper. Use your hands to gently mix until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.

  2. 2

    Form the Patties

Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape each portion into a patty about 3/4 inch thick.

  3. 3

    Cook the Patties

Heat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium doneness. In the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty and cover to melt.

Assembling the Burgers

  1. 4

    Prepare the Buns

Toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster until lightly golden.

  2. 5

    Slice the Tomato

While the patties are cooking, slice the tomato into 1/4 inch thick slices.

  3. 6

    Assemble the Burgers

On the bottom half of each toasted bun, place a lettuce leaf, followed by the cooked patty with melted cheese, a slice of tomato, and pickles. Add ketchup and mustard to taste, then top with the other half of the bun.
