Preparing the Doughnut Batter

Mix Dry Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, and salt until well combined.

Combine Mixtures
Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.

Melt Butter
In a small saucepan over low heat, melt the unsalted butter and then fold it into the batter.
Frying the Doughnuts

Preheat Oil
In a deep fryer or a heavy-bottomed pot, heat oil to 350°F (175°C).

Shape the Doughnuts
Using a doughnut cutter or two round cookie cutters, cut out doughnut shapes from the batter.

Fry the Doughnuts
Carefully place the doughnuts into the hot oil and fry for about 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown.

Drain and Cool
Remove the doughnuts from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
Assembling the Dessert

Once the doughnuts have cooled slightly, place a scoop of ice cream on top of each doughnut.

Drizzle Caramel
Generously drizzle caramel sauce over the ice cream and doughnuts.

Dust with Sugar and Cinnamon
In a small bowl, combine granulated sugar and ground cinnamon. Sprinkle this mixture over the top of the caramel and ice cream.

Serve immediately while the doughnuts are warm and the ice cream is cold.
