In a large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder until well combined.

- 3
Combine Mixtures
Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. The batter should be thick.
- 4
Heat the Oil
In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C) over medium heat.
- 5
Batter the Cheese Curds
Dip each cheese curd into the batter, allowing excess to drip off.
- 6
Fry the Cheese Curds
Carefully drop the battered cheese curds into the hot oil, frying in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes.
- 7
Drain and Serve
Remove the fried cheese curds from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Serve hot.

Bring the sauce to a simmer, then reduce heat to low and let it simmer for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- 11
Serve with Cheese Curds
Once the sauce is thickened, remove from heat and serve alongside the hot cheese curds for dipping.
