Method
Cocktail
- 1
Build the tequila base
Add 2 oz Arette Blanco tequila, 0.5 oz fresh lime juice and 0.25 oz agave syrup into a cocktail shaker. Fill the shaker with 4 ice cubes.
- 2
Shake
Secure the shaker lid and shake vigorously for 10–15 seconds until the exterior of the shaker feels cold and slightly frosted. This chills and slightly dilutes the tequila mixture.
Finish & Serve
- 3
Prepare glass
If you like, run a lime wedge around the rim of a tall chilled highball glass and dip the rim into 1 tsp coarse salt. Otherwise, leave the glass plain. Fill the glass about halfway with fresh ice.
- 4
Strain and top
Double-strain the shaken tequila mixture into the prepared ice-filled highball glass. Slowly top with 1 (12 oz) cold can of Tecate, pouring gently to preserve carbonation and create a light effervescence. Stir once gently with a bar spoon to integrate.
- 5
Garnish and serve
Garnish with a lime wheel or wedge on the rim. Serve immediately with a straw or stirrer and a beer can on the side if desired (some presentations serve the can separately to pour at the table).
