Sausage Gravy

Method

Biscuits

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt. Whisk together until well blended.

  3. 3

    Cut in Butter

Cut the unsalted butter into the flour mixture using a pastry cutter or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

  4. 4

    Add Milk

Pour in the milk and stir gently until just combined. Do not overmix.

  5. 5

    Shape Biscuits

Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and gently knead it a few times. Pat it into a 1-inch thick round. Cut out biscuits using a biscuit cutter or a glass.

  6. 6

    Bake Biscuits

Place the biscuits on a baking sheet and bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly.

Sausage Gravy

  1. 7

    Cook Sausage

In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground breakfast sausage. Cook until browned and fully cooked, breaking it apart with a spatula as it cooks.

  2. 8

    Add Flour

Once the sausage is cooked, sprinkle the flour over the sausage and stir well to combine. Cook for 1-2 minutes, allowing the flour to absorb the fat.

  3. 9

    Add Milk

Gradually pour in the milk while stirring constantly to prevent lumps. Continue to cook on medium heat, stirring frequently until the gravy thickens.

  4. 10

    Season Gravy

Add black pepper and salt to taste. Stir well to combine and adjust seasoning as needed.

  5. 11

    Serve

Serve the sausage gravy hot over the warm biscuits.
