Spice Rub
Prime Rib
Method
Preparation
- 1
Make the Spice Rub
In a small bowl, combine paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, dried thyme, dried rosemary, cayenne pepper, and salt. Mix well to create a spice rub.
- 2
Prepare the Prime Rib
Pat the prime rib roast dry with paper towels. Rub the olive oil all over the roast, ensuring it is evenly coated.
- 3
Season the Roast
Generously apply the spice rub all over the prime rib roast, pressing it into the meat to adhere well. Let the roast sit at room temperature for about 1 hour to allow the flavors to penetrate.
Cooking
- 4
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C).
- 5
Roast the Prime Rib
Place the seasoned prime rib roast in a roasting pan, bone side down. Roast in the preheated oven for 20 minutes.
- 6
Reduce Temperature
After 20 minutes, lower the oven temperature to 325°F (163°C) and continue roasting until the internal temperature reaches 130°F (54°C) for medium-rare, about 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on the size of the roast.
- 7
Rest the Roast
Once the desired temperature is reached, remove the roast from the oven and tent it loosely with aluminum foil. Let it rest for at least 20 minutes before carving.
Serving
- 8
Slice and Serve
Carve the prime rib into thick slices. Serve with beef broth and garnish with fresh parsley.
