Method

Preparing the Patties

  1. 1

    Forming the Patties

In a bowl, mix the ground beef with salt and black pepper. Divide the mixture into two equal parts and form two four-ounce patties.

  2. 2

    Cooking the Patties

Heat a skillet or grill over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 3-4 minutes on one side, then flip them and place a slice of Cooper sharp American cheese on each patty. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until the cheese is melted and the patties are cooked to your desired doneness.

Preparing the Toppings

  1. 3

    Prepare the Bacon Jam

If using store-bought bacon jam, skip this step. If making your own, cook chopped bacon until crispy. Mix it with caramelized onions and a touch of maple syrup or brown sugar to create the jam.

  2. 4

    Prepare the Fried Onions

Fry thinly sliced onions in oil until golden brown and crispy. Drain excess oil on paper towels.

Assembling the Burger

  1. 5

    Toast the Buns

Lightly toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster until golden brown.

  2. 6

    Assemble the Burger

Spread tartar sauce on the bottom half of each bun, then place the cooked patty with melted cheese on top. Layer with bacon jam, fried onions, lettuce, tomato slice, and pickles. Finish with the top half of the bun.
