Preparation

1

Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8-inch round cake pan and line the bottom with parchment paper.

2

Melt the Butter

In a medium saucepan, melt the unsalted butter over low heat. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

3

Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, sift together the cocoa powder, granulated sugar, salt, and baking powder until well combined.

Combine Ingredients

4

Beat Eggs

In a separate bowl, beat the large eggs until they are frothy.

5

Combine Wet and Dry

Gradually add the melted butter and vanilla extract to the beaten eggs, mixing well. Then fold this mixture into the dry ingredients until just combined. Do not overmix.

Bake

6

Transfer to Pan

Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan, spreading it evenly.

7

Bake the Cake

Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.

8

Cool the Cake

Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Serve

9

Garnish and Serve

Once cooled, dust the top of the cake with powdered sugar and serve with fresh berries if desired.
