Espresso Ingredients

Method

Espresso Preparation

  1. 1

    Grind the Coffee Beans

Using a burr grinder, grind 18 grams of espresso coffee beans to a fine consistency. The grind should resemble table salt. Ensure that the grind size is uniform for optimal extraction.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Espresso Machine

Turn on your espresso machine and allow it to heat up for about 15-20 minutes. This ensures that the machine reaches the ideal brewing temperature.

  3. 3

    Tamp the Coffee

Place the ground coffee into the portafilter and evenly distribute it. Use a tamper to compress the grounds firmly and evenly, applying about 30 pounds of pressure. The coffee should be level and smooth.

  4. 4

    Brew the Espresso

Lock the portafilter into the espresso machine's group head. Start the brewing process and allow 30 ml of filtered water to flow through the coffee grounds for about 25-30 seconds. The espresso should have a rich, crema layer on top.

  5. 5

    Serve the Espresso

Once brewed, turn off the machine and remove the portafilter. Pour the espresso into a pre-warmed cup. Serve immediately to enjoy the rich flavors and aroma.
