Method
Coffee Preparation
- 1
Brew the Coffee
In a coffee maker, add the freshly ground coffee beans and water. Brew according to the manufacturer's instructions. Once brewed, add sugar to taste and stir until dissolved.
- 2
Add Milk or Cream
Pour the brewed coffee into cups and add milk or cream to your liking. If desired, stir in cocoa powder for an additional flavor.
Donut Preparation
- 3
Mix Dry Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, salt, and ground nutmeg until well combined.
- 4
Combine Wet Ingredients
In another bowl, whisk together the milk, egg, melted unsalted butter, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- 5
Combine Mixtures
Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix; a few lumps are fine.
- 6
- 7
Bake the Donuts
Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Allow to cool for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
- 8
Glaze the Donuts
While the donuts are cooling, prepare the glaze by mixing powdered sugar with a little water until you achieve a smooth consistency. Dip the tops of the cooled donuts into the glaze or spread with chocolate frosting if desired.
