Chocolate Lava Cake

Vanilla Ice Cream

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Oven

Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).

  2. 2

    Grease the Ramekins

Grease four 6-ounce ramekins with butter and dust with flour to prevent sticking.

Making the Chocolate Lava Cake

  1. 3

    Melt Chocolate and Butter

In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the dark chocolate and unsalted butter. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until fully melted and smooth.

  2. 4

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a separate bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, all-purpose flour, and salt until well combined.

  3. 5

    Combine Mixtures

Add the melted chocolate mixture to the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.

  4. 6

    Add Eggs and Vanilla

Add the large eggs, egg yolks, and vanilla extract to the mixture. Stir until smooth and everything is well incorporated.

  5. 7

    Fill Ramekins

Divide the batter evenly among the prepared ramekins, filling each about ¾ full.

  6. 8

    Bake

Bake in the preheated oven for 12-14 minutes, or until the edges are firm but the center is still soft.

Serving

  1. 9

    Cool and Serve

Remove from the oven and let the cakes rest for 1 minute. Carefully invert each ramekin onto a plate and gently lift off the ramekin. Serve immediately with scoops of vanilla ice cream on the side.
