Base Ingredients

Cream Mixture

Method

Preparation of Coffee

  1. 1

    Brew the Coffee

Start by brewing a strong cup of coffee and allow it to cool to room temperature. If using, mix in coffee liqueur once cooled.

Making the Cream Mixture

  1. 2

    Prepare the Egg Yolks

In a mixing bowl, whisk together the egg yolks and sugar until pale and fluffy.

  2. 3

    Add Mascarpone

Gently fold the mascarpone cheese into the egg yolk mixture until smooth.

  3. 4

    Whip the Cream

In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form.

  4. 5

    Combine Mixtures

Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until fully combined.

Assembling the Tiramisu

  1. 6

    Soak Ladyfingers

Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the cooled coffee (with or without liqueur) for about 1-2 seconds to soak.

  2. 7

    Layer the Ingredients

In a rectangular dish, layer half of the soaked ladyfingers, followed by half of the mascarpone cream mixture. Repeat with the remaining ladyfingers and cream.

Chilling and Serving

  1. 8

    Chill the Tiramisu

Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.

  2. 9

    Serve

Before serving, dust the top with cocoa powder and sprinkle with chocolate shavings if desired.
