Method
Dough Preparation
- 1
Activate Yeast
In a small bowl, combine warm water (about 110°F) and sugar. Sprinkle the yeast over the water and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
- 2
Make the Dough
In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Create a well in the center and add the activated yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix until a dough forms.
- 3
Knead the Dough
Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- 4
Let it Rise
Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
Assembly and Baking
- 5
Preheat Oven
Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C) to ensure it is hot enough for the pizza.
- 6
Prepare the Pizza Base
Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface to your desired thickness. Transfer it to a pizza stone or baking tray lined with parchment paper.
- 7
Add Sauce and Toppings
Spread the pizza sauce evenly over the dough. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese on top, followed by the sliced mushrooms, oregano, and black pepper.
- 8
Drizzle Olive Oil
Drizzle a tablespoon of olive oil over the top of the pizza to enhance the flavor during baking.
- 9
Bake the Pizza
Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbling.
- 10
Add Fresh Basil
Once out of the oven, sprinkle chopped fresh basil over the pizza for a burst of flavor.
- 11
Slice and Serve
Allow the pizza to cool for a few minutes before slicing. Serve hot and enjoy!
