Method

Preparing the Tuna

  1. 1

    Marinate the Tuna Steaks

In a small bowl, mix olive oil, salt, and black pepper. Brush this mixture over the blue fin tuna steaks and let them marinate for at least 30 minutes.

  2. 2

    Preheat the Grill

Preheat your grill to high heat, about 400°F (200°C) for perfect grilling.

Preparing the Salad

  1. 3

    Chop the Ingredients

Dice the heirloom tomatoes and watermelon into bite-sized pieces. Slice the Fresno chilies, removing seeds if desired for less heat.

  2. 4

    Combine Salad Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine the diced heirloom tomatoes, watermelon, sliced Fresno chilies, and Taggiasca olives. Drizzle with sundried tomato oil, and toss gently to combine.

Grilling the Tuna

  1. 5

    Grill the Tuna

Place the marinated tuna steaks on the preheated grill. Grill for about 3-4 minutes on each side, depending on the thickness, until they are cooked to your desired level of doneness.

Finishing Touches

  1. 6

    Prepare the Basil

While the tuna is grilling, take fresh basil leaves and fry them in a small amount of oil until crispy. This will create a crispy basil garnish.
