Canned Soda Selection
Optional Mixers & Variations
Method
Preparing Canned Sodas for Serving
- 1
Chill or Ice
Place canned sodas in the refrigerator at least 2–4 hours before serving for best taste. If you need soda immediately, chill cans in an ice bath: fill a container with equal parts ice and cold water, add 6 cans, and submerge for 10–15 minutes until cold.
- 2
Prepare Glassware
Fill each serving glass with about 2/3 cup (approximately 4–6 ice cubes) of ice. If you prefer no ice, skip this step and chill cans thoroughly instead.
- 3
Open & Pour
Hold the chilled can upright, open the tab carefully. Tilt the glass slightly and pour soda gently down the side to preserve carbonation and reduce foaming. Fill glasses, leaving about 1/2 inch (1 cm) from the top for garnishes or mixers.
- 4
Garnish & Serve
Add optional lemon or lime wedges to the rim, and a sprig of mint if desired. For root beer floats or specialty presentations, see optional variations below. Serve immediately so drinks stay fizzy.

- 7
Adult Soda (spiked)
For an alcoholic version: in a highball glass with ice, add 30–60 ml vodka (per serving), then top with 150–180 ml of chosen canned soda. Stir gently once to combine and garnish with lime.
- 8
Root Beer Float
Scoop one generous scoop of vanilla ice cream into a chilled tall glass. Slowly pour 200–250 ml of root beer over the ice cream to create foam. Serve with a long spoon and straw.
Storage & Safety
- 9
Unopened canned sodas can be stored in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight for months (check printed best-before dates). Once opened and poured into a glass, consume immediately for best carbonation. Opened cans can be resealed with a can lid or transferred to a sealed container and refrigerated; consume within 24 hours for best quality.
