Method

Prepare glassware

  1. 1

    Inspect and chill

Wash all 8 Gorham water goblets in warm, soapy water or run through a glassware cycle in the dishwasher. Rinse thoroughly and inspect for spots or chips. Place goblets in the refrigerator or a chilled area for at least 15 minutes to cool the glass before serving.

  2. 2

    Optional salted rim

If using a salted rim: pour flaked sea salt onto a small plate. Lightly dampen the rim of each goblet by rubbing a lemon slice around the top edge, then dip the rim into the salt, rotating to coat evenly. Return goblets to refrigerator briefly while preparing water.

Prepare water and garnishes

  1. 3

    Chill water

Ensure your chosen water (still, sparkling, or infused) is chilled to about 4–8°C (39–46°F). If using tap water, pre-chill in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour. For sparkling, keep the bottle cold until just before pouring to retain carbonation.

  2. 4

    Make infused water (optional)

To prepare lemon-cucumber infused water: thinly slice one lemon and half a cucumber. In a pitcher, combine 2,000 ml chilled water with the lemon and cucumber slices. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes (preferably 2 hours) to develop a subtle flavor. Remove large slices before pouring, or leave a few in the pitcher for presentation.

  3. 5

    Prepare garnishes

Slice one lemon into 8 thin slices. Pluck 8 small mint sprigs and rinse gently. If using edible flowers, have 8 petals ready. Keep garnishes chilled until plating.

Assemble & serve

  1. 6

Add ice to goblets: Place about 3–4 ice cubes into each chilled Gorham goblet. If you prefer less dilution, use 2 cubes or chilled metal chillers.

  2. 7

Pour water: Pour approximately 250 ml of your chosen chilled water into each goblet (2000 ml total serves 8). For sparkling water, pour gently down the side to preserve bubbles.

  3. 8

Garnish each goblet: Float one lemon slice on top of each drink and add one mint sprig. If using edible flower petals, place a single petal on the lemon slice or atop the water for an elegant touch.

  4. 9

Final check & service: Wipe any drips from the goblet bases and rims with a clean linen. Arrange the 8 goblets on a tray or directly at the table. Serve immediately to preserve chill and carbonation.

Optional sweetening (if requested)

  1. 10

If guests prefer a touch of sweetness, add about 7–8 ml (a half teaspoon) of simple syrup to each goblet and stir gently once after pouring. Offer the simple syrup on the side so guests can sweeten to taste.
