SOFTDRINKS - ORANGENSAFT

Method

SOFTDRINKS - ORANGENSAFT

  1. 1

    Prepare oranges

Select 2 medium to large oranges (to yield approximately 200 ml / 2 dl). Wash them under cold water. Roll each orange on the countertop pressing gently with your palm to soften the fruit and maximize juice yield.

  2. 2

    Juice the oranges

Cut the oranges in half crosswise. Using a manual citrus juicer or electric juicer, squeeze both halves until you have about 200 ml (2 dl) of orange juice. If you prefer pulp-free juice, strain the freshly squeezed juice through a fine mesh sieve into a measuring cup.

  3. 3

    Taste and adjust sweetness

Taste the juice. If the oranges are tart and you prefer a sweeter drink, dissolve 1/2 teaspoon simple syrup (or 1/2 tsp granulated sugar) into 200 ml juice and stir until incorporated. If you want a lighter drink, add up to 50 ml cold water to dilute to taste.

  4. 4

    Serve chilled

Fill a serving glass with 3 ice cubes (optional). Pour the orange juice over the ice. Garnish with 1 orange slice on the rim if desired. Serve immediately.

  5. 5

    Notes

Recipe yields one 2 dl serving. Adjust sugar and dilution to personal preference. For a frothier, pulp-forward version, skip straining; for longer storage, keep refrigerated and consume within 24 hours.
