Breakfast Sandwich

Cheesy Grits

Method

Breakfast Sandwich

  1. 1

    Cook Sausage Patties

In a skillet over medium heat, cook the sausage patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side until browned and cooked through. Remove from skillet and keep warm.

  2. 2

    Cook Bacon

In the same skillet, add the bacon strips and cook until crispy, about 3-4 minutes on each side. Drain on paper towels.

  3. 3

    Griddle Country Ham

Add the country ham slices to the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side until heated and slightly crisp. Remove from heat.

  4. 4

    Toast Sourdough

Lightly butter each slice of sourdough bread and toast them in the skillet until golden brown on both sides.

  5. 5

    Assemble Sandwich

On a slice of toasted sourdough, layer the sausage patty, crispy bacon, and country ham. Top with melted pimento cheese and a generous spoonful of tomato bacon jam. Place another slice of sourdough on top and press gently.

Cheesy Grits

  1. 6

    Cook Grits

In a medium saucepan, bring 4 cups of water to a boil. Stir in the grits and salt, reduce heat to low, and cook uncovered for about 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  2. 7

    Add Milk and Cheese

Once the grits are creamy and tender, stir in the milk, cheddar cheese, and butter. Cook for an additional 5 minutes until the cheese is melted and the mixture is smooth.

  3. 8

    Season Grits

Add pepper to taste and stir well. Keep warm until ready to serve.
