Creamy Mashed Potatoes

Southern Green Beans

Cheddar Drop Biscuits

Method

Meatloaf

  1. 1

    Prepare the Meatloaf Mixture

In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, ground pork, chopped onion, minced garlic, egg, breadcrumbs, Worcestershire sauce, salt, black pepper, half of the ketchup, and mustard. Mix until all ingredients are well combined.

  2. 2

    Shape and Bake

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Transfer the meat mixture into a loaf pan, pressing it gently into shape. Spread the remaining ketchup on top. Bake for 1 hour or until the meatloaf reaches an internal temperature of 160°F (70°C). Let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing.

Creamy Mashed Potatoes

  1. 3

    Cook the Potatoes

In a large pot, add the cubed potatoes and cover them with water. Bring to a boil and cook for about 15-20 minutes until tender. Drain and return to the pot.

  2. 4

    Mash and Season

Add butter, milk, salt, and black pepper to the drained potatoes. Use a potato masher or an electric mixer to mash until smooth and creamy. Adjust seasoning to taste.

Southern Green Beans

  1. 5

    Cook the Bacon and Aromatics

In a large skillet, cook the chopped bacon over medium heat until crispy. Remove the bacon and set aside, leaving the drippings in the pan.

  2. 6

    Sauté the Green Beans

In the same skillet, add sliced onion and minced garlic to the bacon drippings. Sauté for 2-3 minutes until fragrant. Add the trimmed green beans, salt, and black pepper. Cook for an additional 8-10 minutes, stirring occasionally until the beans are tender-crisp.

  3. 7

    Combine and Serve

Return the cooked bacon back to the skillet with the green beans. Toss to combine and serve warm.

Cheddar Drop Biscuits

  1. 8

    Prepare the Dough

In a mixing bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt. Cut in the cold cubed butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in shredded cheddar cheese.

  2. 9

    Add Milk and Bake

Pour in the milk and stir until just combined. Drop spoonfuls of dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake in a preheated oven at 400°F (200°C) for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
