Method
Fried Chicken
- 1
Marinate the Chicken
In a large bowl, combine the buttermilk, salt, black pepper, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne pepper. Add the chicken pieces to the marinade, ensuring they are fully submerged. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight.
- 2
Prepare for Frying
In a separate bowl, mix together the flour, salt, black pepper, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne pepper. Remove the chicken from the marinade and allow the excess to drip off. Dredge each piece in the flour mixture, ensuring it is well coated.
- 3
Heat the Oil
In a large, deep skillet or fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 4
Fry the Chicken
Carefully add the coated chicken pieces to the hot oil, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry the chicken for about 10-12 minutes per side or until golden brown and cooked through. Use a meat thermometer to ensure the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C).
- 5
Drain
Once cooked, remove the chicken and place it on a wire rack or paper towels to drain excess oil.
Glazed Doughnuts
- 6
Make the Doughnut Dough
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt. In another bowl, combine the milk, eggs, vanilla extract, and melted butter. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
- 7
Fry the Doughnuts
Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C). Use a doughnut cutter or two round cutters to cut out doughnuts from the dough and carefully place them in the hot oil. Fry for 1-2 minutes on each side until golden brown. Remove and drain on paper towels.

Creamy Mashed Potatoes
- 9
- 10
Cook the Potatoes
Once boiling, reduce the heat to medium-low and simmer until the potatoes are tender, about 15-20 minutes. Drain well.
