Method
Fried Chicken
- 1
Marinate the Chicken
In a large bowl, combine the buttermilk, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Add the chicken pieces and ensure they are fully submerged. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight.
- 2
Prepare the Flour Coating
In a separate bowl, mix the all-purpose flour with a pinch of salt and pepper. This will be the coating for the chicken.
- 3
- 4
Fry the Chicken
Remove chicken from the marinade, allowing excess to drip off. Dredge each piece in the flour mixture, shaking off the excess. Fry the chicken in batches for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through. Drain on paper towels.
Sugar Donuts
- 5
Make the Donut Dough
In a large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt. In another bowl, mix the milk, eggs, and vanilla extract. Combine the wet and dry ingredients until just mixed; do not overmix.
- 6
Shape the Donuts
Turn the dough onto a floured surface and roll it out to about 1/2 inch thick. Cut out donuts using a donut cutter or two round cutters.
- 7
- 8
Fry the Donuts
Fry the donuts in batches for about 1-2 minutes on each side or until golden brown. Remove and drain on paper towels.
- 9
Coat with Sugar
While still warm, toss the donuts in powdered sugar until evenly coated.
Mashed Potatoes
- 10
Prepare the Potatoes
Peel and cut the potatoes into quarters. Rinse under cold water.
