Biscuit Directions

Preheat Oven
Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).

Mix Dry Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt.

Incorporate Butter
Add in the unsalted butter and mix with a pastry cutter or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

Add Cheese
Fold in the shredded cheddar cheese until evenly distributed.

Add Milk
Pour in the milk and stir gently until just combined. Do not overmix.

Drop Biscuit Mixture
Using a spoon or cookie scoop, drop heaping spoonfuls of the biscuit mixture onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until the tops are golden brown.

Cook Mixture
Cook over medium heat, stirring frequently until the mixture starts to bubble.

Reduce heat and simmer for about 20-25 minutes, or until the mixture thickens.

Remove from heat and let cool. Store in a jar in the refrigerator until ready to serve.
Sawmill Gravy Directions

Cook Sausage
In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground sausage until browned and cooked through, breaking it apart as it cooks.

Sprinkle the flour over the cooked sausage and stir to combine. Cook for about 1-2 minutes.

Slowly whisk in the milk, stirring constantly until the mixture is smooth.

Add salt and black pepper, and continue to cook until the gravy thickens, about 5-7 minutes.
