Chicken Marinade

Method

Marinating the Chicken

  1. 1

    Prepare the Marinade

In a mixing bowl, combine the olive oil, lemon juice, garlic powder, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are well incorporated.

  2. 2

    Marinate the Chicken

Add the chicken breasts to the marinade, ensuring that they are fully coated. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 2 hours for more flavor.

Grilling the Chicken

  1. 3

    Preheat the Grill

Preheat your grill to medium-high heat, ensuring the grates are clean and lightly oiled to prevent sticking.

  2. 4

    Grill the Chicken

Remove the chicken from the marinade and place it on the grill. Cook for about 6-7 minutes on each side, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C) and the chicken is nicely charred.

  3. 5

    Let it Rest

Once cooked, remove the chicken from the grill and let it rest for 5 minutes before slicing.

Assembling the Sandwich

  1. 6

    Prepare the Buns

While the chicken is resting, slice the whole grain sandwich buns in half horizontally.

  2. 7

    Spread Mayonnaise

Spread 1 tablespoon of mayonnaise on the inside of each bun half.

  3. 8

    Assemble the Sandwich

Layer the leafy greens, grilled chicken slices, sliced tomatoes, sliced avocado, and cheddar cheese (if using) on the bottom half of the bun. Top with the other half of the bun.
