Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, sift together all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Whisk until well combined.

  3. 3

    Combine Wet Ingredients

In a separate bowl, beat the eggs. Then add the whole milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth.

  4. 4

    Mix Wet and Dry Ingredients

Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.

  5. 5

    Add Boiling Water

Slowly stir in the boiling water to the batter. This will thin the batter out, but that’s normal.

  6. 6

    Pour Batter into Pans

Divide the batter evenly between the two prepared cake pans.

Baking

  1. 7

    Bake the Cake

Place the cake pans in the preheated oven and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

  2. 8

    Cool the Cakes

Once baked, remove the cakes from the oven. Let them cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Serving

  1. 9

    Frosting (Optional)

You can frost the cake with your favorite chocolate frosting once completely cooled.

  2. 10

    Serve

Slice the cake and serve. Enjoy your delicious chocolate cake!
