Rib Preparation

Method

Rib Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Ribs

Begin by removing the membrane from the back of the ribs. This helps the seasoning penetrate better.

  2. 2

    Season the Ribs

In a small bowl, mix together salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Rub this mixture evenly over both sides of the ribs.

BBQ Sauce Preparation

  1. 3

    Make the BBQ Sauce

In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine ketchup, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, mustard, garlic powder, cayenne pepper, and salt. Stir well to combine.

  2. 4

    Simmer the Sauce

Bring the mixture to a simmer. Reduce the heat to low and let it cook for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens.

Cooking the Ribs

  1. 5

    Preheat the Grill

Preheat your grill to medium heat, about 300°F (150°C).

  2. 6

    Cook the Ribs

Place the seasoned ribs on the grill, bone side down. Close the lid and cook for about 2.5 to 3 hours, turning every 30 minutes.

  3. 7

    Glaze with BBQ Sauce

During the last 30 minutes of cooking, brush the ribs with the BBQ sauce, turning them to ensure even coating.

  4. 8

    Check for Doneness

Ribs are done when they are tender and the meat pulls back from the bone. Remove from the grill and let rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
