Method
Pulled Pork Directions
- 1
Prepare the Pork
Trim excess fat from the pork shoulder and cut it into large chunks.
- 2
Season the Pork
In a bowl, mix together smoked paprika, brown sugar, salt, black pepper, and cumin. Rub this spice mixture all over the pork chunks.
- 3
Prepare the Onion and Garlic
Slice the onion and crush the garlic cloves.
- 4
Slow Cook the Pork
Place the seasoned pork, sliced onion, and crushed garlic in a slow cooker. Pour in the BBQ sauce, ensuring the pork is well coated. Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours, or until the pork is tender and easily shredded.
- 5
Shred the Pork
Once cooked, remove the pork from the slow cooker and shred it using two forks. Return the shredded pork to the slow cooker and stir it into the sauce.
- 6
Toast the Buns
While the pork is finishing, toast the buns in an oven or on a grill until golden brown.
- 7
Assemble the Sandwiches
Place a generous portion of pulled pork on each toasted bun and top with coleslaw if desired.
