Preparation
- 1
Bring the Steak to Room Temperature
Remove the New York Strip Steak from the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for about 30-60 minutes before cooking. This helps in even cooking.
- 2
Cooking
- 3
Preheat the Skillet
Place a cast iron skillet on the stove over medium-high heat. Allow it to heat up for about 5 minutes until it is very hot.
- 4
- 5
Flip the Steak
Using tongs, carefully flip the steak over and cook for an additional 4-5 minutes for medium-rare, or until the desired doneness is achieved. Use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature (130°F for medium-rare).
- 6
Resting
- 7
Rest the Steak
Once cooked to your liking, remove the steak from the skillet and let it rest on a cutting board for 5-10 minutes. This allows the juices to redistribute.
Serving
- 8
Slice and Serve
Slice the steak against the grain and serve immediately. Enjoy your buttery and tender New York Strip!
