Crispy Chicken
Mac & Cheese
Method
Prepare the Chicken
- 1
Marinate the Chicken
In a mixing bowl, combine the buttermilk, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Add the chicken breasts and ensure they are fully submerged. Cover and marinate in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour, preferably overnight.
- 2
Prepare the Coating
In another bowl, mix the all-purpose flour and cornstarch together. This will be used to coat the chicken.
- 3
Heat the Oil
In a deep frying pan or pot, heat the oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 4
Fry the Chicken
Remove the chicken from the buttermilk marinade, allowing excess to drip off. Dredge each piece in the flour-cornstarch mixture until well coated. Carefully place the chicken in the hot oil and fry for about 6-8 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove and drain on paper towels.
Prepare the Mac & Cheese
- 5
Cook the Macaroni
In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add the elbow macaroni and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- 6
- 7
Add Cheeses
Reduce the heat to low and stir in the shredded cheddar cheese and cream cheese. Mix until the cheese is fully melted and the sauce is creamy. Season with salt and black pepper.
- 8
Combine with Pasta
Add the cooked macaroni to the cheese sauce and stir until well combined. Adjust seasoning if necessary.
Assemble the Combo
- 9
Serve Together
