Preparation

  1. 1

    Season the Steak

Pat the Australian Wagyu Tomahawk steak dry with paper towels. This will help achieve a better sear. In a small bowl, mix the Herbs de Provence, sea salt, black pepper, and garlic powder together.

  2. 2

    Apply Oil and Seasoning

Drizzle the olive oil over both sides of the steak. Rub the seasoning mixture evenly over the steak, ensuring to cover all surfaces. Let the steak sit at room temperature for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to penetrate.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Preheat the Grill

Preheat your grill to high heat (approximately 450°F to 500°F). If using a charcoal grill, ensure the coals are evenly distributed.

  2. 4

    Sear the Steak

Once the grill is hot, place the tomahawk steak on the grill. Sear for about 4-5 minutes on each side for a medium-rare finish, or until the internal temperature reaches 130°F (54°C).

  3. 5

    Rest the Steak

Remove the steak from the grill and let it rest for at least 10-15 minutes. This allows the juices to redistribute throughout the meat, ensuring a juicy steak.

Serving

  1. 6

    Slice and Serve

After resting, slice the steak against the grain into thick slices. Serve immediately, garnished with additional herbs if desired.
