SOURDOUGH PIZZA

Method

SOURDOUGH PIZZA

  1. 1

    Prepare the Sourdough Pizza Dough

Start by preparing your sourdough pizza dough according to your recipe. Allow it to rise until doubled in size, which usually takes about 4-6 hours.

  2. 2

    Make the Marinara Sauce

In a medium saucepan, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat. Add 4 minced garlic cloves and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant, being careful not to burn the garlic.

  3. 3

    Add Tomatoes and Seasoning

Pour in 400 grams of crushed Dinapoli tomatoes, add 2 teaspoons of dried oregano and 1 teaspoon of salt. Stir well to combine all ingredients.

  4. 4

    Simmer the Sauce

Bring the sauce to a gentle simmer and let it cook for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally until it thickens slightly.

  5. 5

    Preheat the Oven

While the sauce simmers, preheat your oven to its highest setting (usually around 475°F or 245°C). If using a pizza stone, place it in the oven to heat up.

  6. 6

    Shape the Pizza Dough

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and turn it onto a floured surface. Shape it into a pizza base, ensuring it has a slightly thicker edge for the crust.

  7. 7

    Assemble the Pizza

Spread a generous amount of marinara sauce over the shaped dough, leaving a small border around the edges. Optionally, add shredded mozzarella cheese on top if desired.

  8. 8

    Bake the Pizza

Carefully transfer the assembled pizza onto the preheated pizza stone or baking tray. Bake for about 10-12 minutes, or until the crust is golden and crispy.

  9. 9

    Garnish and Serve

Remove the pizza from the oven and let it cool for a minute. Garnish with fresh basil leaves before slicing and serving.
