Method

Dough Preparation

  1. 1

    Activate Yeast

In a small bowl, combine warm water (110°F) with sugar and active dry yeast. Let sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.

  2. 2

    Mix Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour and salt. Make a well in the center and pour in the yeast mixture and olive oil.

  3. 3

    Knead Dough

Mix until combined, then knead on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  4. 4

    First Rise

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours or until doubled in size.

Pizza Assembly

  1. 5

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C) and place a pizza stone (if using) inside to heat.

  2. 6

    Shape Dough

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into two equal portions. Roll out each portion on a floured surface to your desired thickness.

  3. 7

    Add Sauce

Spread half of the crushed Dinapoli tomatoes evenly over one rolled-out dough, leaving a border for the crust.

  4. 8

    Add Cheese and Basil

Tear fresh mozzarella into pieces and scatter over the sauce. Add fresh basil leaves on top.

  5. 9

    Drizzle and Season

Drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle with salt to taste.

  6. 10

    Bake Pizza

Transfer the pizza to the preheated pizza stone (or a baking sheet) and bake for 10-12 minutes or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbling.

  7. 11

    Serve

Remove the pizza from the oven, let cool for a few minutes, slice, and serve hot.
