Method

Prepare Burger Patties

  1. 1

    Mix Ingredients

In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Use your hands to mix until well combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.

  2. 2

    Form Patties

Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape each portion into a patty about ¾ inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent puffing during cooking.

Cook Burger Patties

  1. 3

    Preheat Grill

Preheat your grill or skillet over medium-high heat for about 5 minutes until hot.

  2. 4

    Cook Patties

Place the patties on the grill or skillet and cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side. Flip the patties, and add a slice of cheddar cheese on each. Cook for an additional 3-4 minutes for medium doneness.

Prepare Toppings

  1. 5

    Slice Tomato

While the patties are cooking, slice the tomato into thin rounds.

  2. 6

    Prep Lettuce and Pickles

Wash and dry the lettuce leaves. Prepare pickles by slicing if necessary.

Assemble Burgers

  1. 7

    Toast Buns

If desired, toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster for a few minutes until golden brown.

  2. 8

    Layer Ingredients

On the bottom half of each bun, layer lettuce, a cooked patty with melted cheese, tomato slices, pickles, ketchup, and mustard. Top with the other half of the bun.
