Method
Tiramisu Directions
- 1
Prepare the Coffee
Brew a strong cup of coffee and allow it to cool to room temperature. This will be used to soak the ladyfingers.
- 2
Whip the Cream
In a large mixing bowl, whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form. This should take about 3-5 minutes using an electric mixer.
- 3
Make the Mascarpone Mixture
In another bowl, whisk together the egg yolks and granulated sugar until the mixture is pale and creamy. Add the mascarpone cheese and vanilla extract, and gently fold until combined.
- 4
Combine the Mixtures
Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until well combined. Be careful not to deflate the whipped cream.
- 5
Soak the Ladyfingers
Dip each ladyfinger into the cooled coffee for about 2 seconds, ensuring they are soaked but not soggy.
- 6
Layer the Tiramisu
In a rectangular dish, arrange a layer of soaked ladyfingers on the bottom. Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers. Repeat with another layer of soaked ladyfingers and the remaining mascarpone mixture.
- 7
Chill
Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight for best results.
- 8
Serve
Before serving, dust the top with cocoa powder and add shaved dark chocolate if desired. Slice and serve chilled.
