Method

Cooking Pasta

1

Cook the Penne

In a large pot, bring water to a boil. Add 1 tsp of salt to the boiling water. Add the penne pasta and cook according to the package instructions until al dente, usually about 10-12 minutes.

2

Drain the Pasta

Once cooked, drain the penne pasta in a colander and set aside.

Making the Sauce

3

Sauté Garlic

In the same pot, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.

4

Add Tomato Sauce

Pour in the tomato sauce and stir well. Let it simmer for about 5 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together.

5

Add Basil

Tear the fresh basil leaves and add them to the sauce. Stir well and let it simmer for an additional 2-3 minutes.

Combining Ingredients

6

Combine Pasta and Sauce

Add the drained penne pasta to the sauce in the pot. Toss to ensure the pasta is evenly coated with the sauce.

7

Add Mozzarella

Gently fold in the diced fresh mozzarella cheese. Allow it to melt slightly as you stir the pasta.

Serving

8

Season and Serve

Season the pasta with salt and pepper to taste. Serve hot, garnished with additional fresh basil if desired.
