Method
Steak Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Steak
Remove the New York Strip Steaks from the refrigerator and let them sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes to ensure even cooking.
- 2
- 3
Cook the Steak
Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the steaks and sear for 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until your desired doneness is reached.
- 4
- 5
Rest the Steak
Remove the steaks from the skillet and let them rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing.
Fries Preparation
- 6
Prepare the Potatoes
Wash and peel the russet potatoes. Cut them into thin strips, about 1/4 inch thick.
- 7
Soak the Potatoes
Soak the potato strips in cold water for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch. Drain and pat dry with paper towels.
- 8
Heat the Oil
In a large pot or deep fryer, heat vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C). Use a thermometer to ensure accurate temperature.
- 9
Fry the Potatoes
Carefully add a batch of the dried potato strips to the hot oil. Fry for about 4-5 minutes or until golden and crispy. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
- 10
Season the Fries
While the fries are still hot, sprinkle with salt, paprika, garlic powder, and black pepper to taste.
- 11
Serve
Serve the fries hot alongside the rested New York Strip Steaks.
