Method

Cooking Gnocchi

  1. 1

    Boil Gnocchi

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the potato gnocchi and cook according to package instructions, usually about 2-3 minutes until they float to the top. Drain and set aside.

Making Tomato Sauce

  1. 2

    Sauté Garlic

In a saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.

  2. 3

    Add Tomatoes

Stir in the canned crushed tomatoes, sugar, salt, and black pepper. Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook for about 10-15 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken.

  3. 4

    Finish Sauce

Add the chopped basil leaves to the sauce, stir well, and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes. Remove from heat.

Combining and Serving

  1. 5

    Toss Gnocchi with Sauce

Add the cooked gnocchi to the sauce, gently tossing to coat the gnocchi evenly with the sauce.

  2. 6

    Plate the Dish

Serve the gnocchi in bowls, topped with cubed fresh mozzarella and fresh basil leaves. Drizzle with balsamic glaze for added flavor.
