Pasta
Bolognese Sauce
Method
Preparing the Pasta
Cook the Fettuccine
In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add the fettuccine and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
Making the Bolognese Sauce
Sauté the Vegetables
In a large skillet or saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the finely chopped onion, carrot, and celery. Sauté for about 5-7 minutes until the vegetables are softened.
Incorporate Tomatoes and Wine
Stir in the crushed tomatoes and red wine. Bring the mixture to a simmer.
Season the Sauce
Add the dried oregano, dried basil, salt, and black pepper. Stir to combine. Allow the sauce to simmer gently for 30-40 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens.
Finish with Parmesan
Once the sauce has thickened, stir in the grated Parmesan cheese until melted and well combined.
Serving
Combine and Serve
Serve the cooked fettuccine topped with the Bolognese sauce. Garnish with additional Parmesan cheese if desired.
