Pork Preparation

  1. 1

    Marinate the Pork

In a mixing bowl, combine minced garlic, cumin, oregano, salt, black pepper, and olive oil. Rub this mixture all over the pork shoulder, ensuring it's evenly coated. Let it marinate for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight in the refrigerator.

  2. 2

    Roast the Pork

Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C). Place the marinated pork shoulder in a roasting pan and cover it with foil. Roast for about 4-5 hours or until the meat is tender and easily shreds with a fork. Remove from the oven and let it rest before slicing.

Sandwich Assembly

  1. 3

    Slice the Bread

Cut the Cuban bread or baguette into 4 equal portions. Slice each portion open lengthwise, without cutting all the way through, to create a pocket.

  2. 4

    Layer the Ingredients

Spread yellow mustard generously on the inside of each slice of bread. Layer the sliced roasted pork, ham slices, Swiss cheese, and dill pickles inside the bread.

  3. 5

    Press the Sandwiches

If you have a sandwich press or a cast-iron skillet, preheat it. Place the assembled sandwiches in the press or skillet, and press down gently to flatten. Cook for about 3-5 minutes on each side until the bread is crispy and the cheese is melted.
