Method
Coffee Preparation
Brew the Coffee
In a coffee maker, add the coffee grounds and pour in the water. Brew according to the coffee maker's instructions.
Biscotti Preparation
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Mix Dry Ingredients
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt until well combined.
Combine Mixtures
Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Fold in the almonds or nuts, if using.
Shape the Biscotti
Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and shape it into a log about 12 inches long and 3 inches wide.
Bake the First Time
Transfer the log to a lined baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, until lightly golden.
Cool and Slice
Remove the log from the oven and let it cool for about 10 minutes. Then, slice it diagonally into 1-inch thick pieces.
Bake the Second Time
Place the sliced biscotti back on the baking sheet and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes until dry and crisp.
Cool and Serve
Allow biscotti to cool completely before serving with the freshly brewed coffee.
