Mix Ingredients
In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, minced garlic, beaten egg, salt, black pepper, and Italian seasoning. Mix well until all ingredients are fully incorporated.
- 2
Form Meatballs
Shape the mixture into meatballs about 1 to 1.5 inches in diameter, and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Bake Meatballs
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Bake the meatballs in the preheated oven for about 20 minutes, or until they are cooked through and browned.

Sauté Aromatics
In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
- 5
Add Tomatoes and Seasonings
Pour in the crushed tomatoes, then add salt, sugar, dried basil, and dried oregano. Stir well to combine.
- 6
Simmer Sauce
Bring the sauce to a simmer and let it cook for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Combine and Serve

Combine Meatballs and Sauce
Once the meatballs are cooked, add them to the skillet with the tomato sauce. Stir to coat the meatballs evenly with the sauce.
- 8
Add Toppings
Top the meatballs with sliced cherry peppers and shredded mozzarella cheese.
- 9
Melt Cheese
Cover the skillet and cook on low heat for an additional 5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- 10
Serve
Serve the Campagna hot, garnished with fresh basil if desired.
