Tomato Sauce

Method

Tomato Sauce

  1. 1

    Sauté the Garlic

In a medium saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1-2 minutes, until fragrant but not browned.

  2. 2

    Add Tomatoes and Seasonings

Stir in the canned crushed tomatoes, dried basil, salt, and black pepper. Bring the mixture to a simmer, then reduce the heat to low and let it cook for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Broccoli Rabe and Sausage

  1. 3

    Cook the Sausage

In a large skillet, add the Italian sausage over medium heat. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon, about 5-7 minutes.

  2. 4

    Add Broccoli Rabe

Add the chopped broccoli rabe to the skillet and stir to combine with the sausage. Cook for another 3-4 minutes.

  3. 5

    Add Chicken Broth and Season

Pour in the chicken broth and sprinkle in the red pepper flakes, salt, and black pepper. Bring to a simmer and let it cook for about 5-7 minutes, or until the broccoli rabe is tender.

Assembly

  1. 6

    Serve the Dish

To assemble, spoon the tomato sauce onto a serving plate. Top with the sausage and broccoli rabe mixture. Tear the burrata cheese and place it on top. Garnish with fresh basil leaves before serving.
