Burger Components

BBQ Sauce

Method

BBQ Sauce Preparation

  1. 1

    Make the BBQ Sauce

In a medium saucepan, combine ketchup, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, smoked paprika, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Stir and simmer over medium heat for about 10 minutes, until thickened.

Burger Assembly

  1. 2

    Cook the Burger Patties

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Form the ground beef into 4 equal patties, season with salt and pepper, and grill for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until cooked to your desired doneness.

  2. 3

    Add Cheese

During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of Gouda cheese on each patty and cover to melt.

  3. 4

    Toast the Buns

Toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster until golden brown.

  4. 5

    Assemble the Burger

Spread a generous amount of the spicy BBQ sauce on the bottom bun. Add the lettuce, tomato slices, the cheese-topped burger patty, crispy bacon, and fried shoestring onions. Top with the other half of the bun.
