Burger Ingredients

Caramelized Onions and Sautéed Mushrooms

Horseradish Sauce

Method

Prepare the Burger

1

Form the Patties

In a bowl, mix the ground beef with salt and black pepper. Divide into 4 equal portions and form into patties.

2

Cook the Patties

Grill or pan-fry the patties over medium-high heat for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired doneness.

Sauté Onions and Mushrooms

3

Caramelize the Onions

In a skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add sliced onions and cook slowly for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they are golden brown and caramelized.

4

Sauté the Mushrooms

In the same skillet, add 1 tablespoon of butter and the sliced mushrooms. Sauté for about 5-7 minutes until the mushrooms are tender and browned.

Prepare the Horseradish Sauce

5

Mix the Sauce

In a small bowl, combine the horseradish sauce and mayonnaise. Adjust seasoning to taste.

Make the Au Jus

6

Prepare the Au Jus

In a small saucepan, combine beef broth and Worcestershire sauce. Heat over medium heat until warmed through.

Assemble the Burgers

7

Build the Burger

Place each patty on a burger bun, top with caramelized onions, sautéed mushrooms, and a slice of Gruyere cheese. Serve with horseradish sauce and au jus on the side for dipping.
