Base & Bitter

Sparkle & Balance

Method

Prepare & Build

  1. 1

    Chill glass

Place a rocks or wine glass in the freezer for 5–10 minutes or fill with ice water while you assemble ingredients to chill it.

  2. 2

    Combine base

In a mixing glass or small pitcher, add 4 tbs Lurisia (or a light dry Italian vermouth/aperitivo) and 1 tbs aromatic bitter. Stir gently to combine for 10–15 seconds—do not over-stir; the goal is gentle integration, not dilution.

  3. 3

    Add citrus & sweetener

Add 15 ml fresh lemon juice and 7.5 ml simple syrup to the mixing glass. Stir together for another 5–10 seconds to marry flavors.

  4. 4

    Ice and dilute

Add a large ice cube (or 3–4 regular cubes) to the mixing glass and stir for 10–15 seconds to chill and lightly dilute the mixture. If you prefer minimal alcohol haze, shorten stirring to 8–10 seconds.

  5. 5

    Top with soda

Strain the mixture (if using larger ice in the chilled glass, you can pour directly) into your chilled glass over fresh ice. Pour 90 ml chilled soda water, then optionally add 30 ml extra mineral soda for extra sparkle. Stir gently once to integrate the bubbles without flattening them.

Garnish & Finish

  1. 6

Express an orange peel over the drink by holding peel skin-side down and giving a quick twist to release oils; rub the rim with the peel and drop it into the drink.

  2. 7

Optional: slap a rosemary or thyme sprig between your palms to release aromatics and place it on top of the drink for an herbal lift.

  3. 8

Serve immediately while effervescent. Sip slowly to 'activate the appetite' without heavy alcohol — adjust bitter or soda ratio to taste for a lighter head effect.
