Preparation

Preparation

1. Chill glass

Place a highball or Collins glass in the freezer for 5–10 minutes or fill it with ice water while you prepare the drink to chill it.

2. Build the cocktail

Add 1.5 oz vodka and 0.5 oz fresh lime juice to a mixing glass or shaker filled with a few ice cubes. Pour in 0.75 oz house jasmine grenadine.

3. Brief stir or shake

If you want a slightly more integrated drink, shake the vodka, lime and grenadine with ice for 5 seconds and strain into the chilled glass over fresh ice. Alternatively, for a lighter, fizzy finish, simply stir gently in the serving glass after adding ice.

4. Top with soda

Top the cocktail with about 3 oz ginger ale (or lemon-lime soda). Gently stir once with a bar spoon to combine the soda with the base mixture, taking care not to lose carbonation.

5. Bitters (optional)

If using, add 1 dash of Angostura bitters on top to add aromatic depth. This is optional and not traditional in a Shirley Temple-inspired drink.

Garnish & Serve

6. Garnish the drink with one maraschino cherry and a lime wheel or wedge placed on the rim. Float an edible jasmine flower on top if available for fragrance and presentation.

7. Serve immediately with a straw and a napkin. Note: the grenadine will create a pretty gradient if you pour it gently and don’t over-stir; if you prefer an even color, stir a little more.
