Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.

Mix Dry Ingredients
In a large bowl, sift together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

Combine Mixtures
Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined.

Add Boiling Water
Carefully stir in the boiling water until the batter is well combined. The batter will be thin.

Bake the Cake
Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Cool the Cakes
Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then remove from the pans and let cool completely on a wire rack.
Strawberry Sauce

Prepare Strawberries
Wash and hull the fresh strawberries. If they are large, you may want to cut them in half or quarters.

Cool the Sauce
Remove from heat and let the sauce cool. It will thicken further as it cools.
