Prepare the Patties
In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef with salt and pepper to taste. Form the mixture into two equal-sized patties.

Cook the Patties
Heat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium doneness. During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of provolone cheese on each patty to melt.

Assemble the Burger
Toast the garlic bread buns on the grill or skillet until golden brown. Place the cooked patty on the bottom half of the bun. Layer with mortadella, pepperoni, and pickled giardiniera. Top with the other half of the bun.

Slice the Onions
Peel and slice the large onions into thick rings, about 1/2 inch wide.

Prepare the Batter
In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, baking powder, and salt. Gradually whisk in the cold beer until the batter is smooth.

Heat the Oil
In a deep pot or fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).
