Tuna Mixture
To Serve
Method
Tuna Mixture
- 1
Prepare tuna
Open and drain the canned tuna thoroughly. Transfer tuna to a medium mixing bowl and use a fork to break it into flaky pieces, leaving some bite.
- 2
Dice vegetables
Finely dice the celery and red onion so pieces are small and even. Chop the capers and fresh dill.
- 3
Combine ingredients
Add the diced celery, onion, chopped capers, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, lemon juice, and chopped dill to the bowl with tuna. Stir gently to combine so mixture remains slightly chunky.
- 4
Season
Taste and add salt and freshly ground black pepper. Adjust lemon juice or mayonnaise as needed to reach a creamy, slightly tangy balance.
To Serve
- 5
If serving on bread or crackers: toast bread lightly if desired. Spoon a generous portion of the tuna mixture (about 1/2 cup) onto each slice of bread or crackers (about 1 tablespoon per cracker). Garnish with tomato slices and a sprinkle of extra dill if you like.
- 6
If serving as a salad: divide mixed salad greens among 2 plates. Mound about 1 cup of tuna mixture on top of each portion of greens. Arrange tomato slices around and serve with lemon wedges for squeezing over.
- 7
Serve immediately. Leftover tuna mixture can be refrigerated in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
