Main Ingredients

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Potatoes

Wash and peel the potatoes. Using a spiralizer or a sharp knife, cut the potatoes into thin spiral shapes. Soak the spiralized potatoes in cold water for 30 minutes to remove excess starch.

  2. 2

    Season the Potatoes

Drain the potatoes and pat them dry with paper towels. In a mixing bowl, combine salt, paprika, garlic powder, and black pepper. Toss the dried potato spirals in the seasoning mix until evenly coated.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Heat the Oil

In a large, deep pot, heat vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C). Use a thermometer for accuracy.

  2. 4

    Fry the Potato Spirals

Carefully add a handful of the seasoned potato spirals into the hot oil, frying in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry for 3-5 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Use a slotted spoon to remove them from the oil and drain on paper towels.

Serving

  1. 5

    Serve the Texas Twisters

Serve the crispy potato spirals hot, garnished with optional toppings such as cheese, sour cream, or jalapeños. Enjoy!
