Fried Pickles
Method
Instructions
- 1
Prepare the Batter
In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, cornmeal, baking powder, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix well.
- 2
Add Buttermilk
Gradually stir in the buttermilk to the dry ingredients until a smooth batter forms.
- 3
Heat the Oil
In a deep frying pan or pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 4
Batter the Pickles
Dip each dill pickle chip into the batter, ensuring they are well-coated.
- 5
Fry the Pickles
Carefully place the battered pickle chips into the hot oil. Fry in batches for about 2-3 minutes or until they are golden brown and crispy.
- 6
Drain and Serve
Remove the fried pickles with a slotted spoon and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Serve hot with ranch dressing.
